Founded by a former carer, Dandelion crafts CIC began when Penny our founder sought to make beautiful, yet dementia suitable gifts for her own mother. The beautiful creations designed to help the person with dementia also inadvertently helped the carer, through being creative and having a focus outside of caring. The idea that these products could also help others soon followed. A chance meeting with her cousin Harriet (who was caring for Penny’s aunt (Harriet’s Grandmother) another dementia patient) fuelled the idea that other carers join together and through making crafts, help each other.
So here is Dandelion Crafts CIC. A community interest company where carers and former carers make knitted, crocheted, sewn items at their own pace in their own homes, providing relaxation and a focus outside their main caring roles. We sell our products not only create paid employment but also to beat isolation and loneliness.
We craft together and run dementia friendly workshops to create something far more than the crafted items for sale. We hope you enjoy all our products as much as we enjoy making them.
